Preliminary Examination
The Prelims is a single objective-type screening test of 150 marks. There is 1/3rd negative marking for wrong answers. Prelims marks are not counted toward final merit.
Main Examination
The Mains examination has 5 papers. General Hindi (100 marks) is qualifying with a 30% threshold. The remaining 4 papers — GS I, GS II, Essay, and Optional Subject — carry 900 merit marks.
Interview
The interview assesses the candidate's personality, general awareness, and suitability for administrative roles in the Bihar state government.
